It's interesting to see how much citizen journalism is developing. The internet is vastly used as a freehold for different forms of media such as blogs, videos and forums. It is becoming easier for people to express their own take on events and may give an alternative insight to what the professional journalists publish. Sites like Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/) can be used by anyone and with mobile phones now having the ability to capture photos and video footage, more and more people are using the internet to display their own findings.
Some news programmes and websites even invite people to send in their own videos and pictures, particularly if there has been some unusual weather e.g. flash floods and storms. It aids the newscasters, in some ways, to relay as much information as possible.
It's a good thing and it won't endanger the jobs of journalists because there is room for everyone when it comes to reporting current affairs.
